1942: First Strike iPhone app Review

Description:

In the 1942: First Strike iPhone app you will be able to take to the skies in over three different planes in this arcade classic.  The game is fast paced and you will have to be quick on your wings in order to defeat the battleships, bombers and other dog fighters as you try to protect and conquer.  This new version has a variety of things including a new plane, a couple new environments for you to be able to play on, and also a new tank boss to defeat in the game.

Features:

• This game is actually loaded with a variety of different features.  The first thing that you will notice with the game is the number of aircraft that you can control.  There are three main types that you can control and they are the Lightning which is really well rounded, the Mosquito which is a bit more rugged, and also the Shinden which is the most nimble and quick of the three.
• As you play you will be able to upgrade all of your aircraft and even unlock more weapons that are going to be a lot more powerful than the weapons you had on your planes before
• You will love the gameplay as you fly through the sky trying to take other planes down. The dogfights are truly epic and the boss fights are even more exciting.  There are six boss fights total
• You will be able to take your combat skills across five different kinds of environments so you’ll never get bored of the game and the things you will get to do
• There are two main control systems that you will be able to do.  The first is the tilt control system and the second is the touch control system
• There are a lot of different gameplay and art elements that have been completely inspired by the other 1942 game that was a hit on the iPhone: Joint Strike
• There is also support for the Game Center Leaderboard so you can see who the best players are in the game.

Conclusion:

This app has been given pretty decent ratings and currently can be found as a 3 1/2 stars out of a 5 star rating.  You can also download this game onto your phone for a price of $0.99.

Talking Harry the Hedgehog iPhone app Review

Description:

In the Talking Harry the Hedgehog iPhone app you will be able to interact with a very bored and tired little hedgehog that doesn’t have much interest in what you are saying.  If you decide to give him an energy drink though you will see him spruce right up and either become a trained karate master or a sci-fi dodger of bullets.  Harry will actually say back everything that you say to him.  He will do it in a bored voice unless he has had an energy drink first and then he becomes very talkative.

Features:

• This game is all about getting a reaction out of your little groundhog friend.  You will be able to talk to Harry the Hedgehog and then have him repeat everything back to you in the most bored voice you can think of
• If you want to really get Harry going then all you need to do is just give him one of the energy drinks that is on the screen.  If you give him the blue energy drink then you will be able to see him turn into a karate master who can’t be touched!
• If you decide to opt for the other energy drink and you end up giving him the red one then you will see that he will get a little edgy and go into the bullet dodge mode
• Once he turns into either one of these characters from drinking the red and blue energy drinks then you should see what happens when you try to talk to him or when you try to touch him on the screen
• One of the cool things that you can do with this app is that if you have  a really funny session with Harry then you can take a video of it and record it to watch it later.  You can save these videos in your library and then send them to friends as an MMS or you can even upload them to Facebook or onto Youtube.  If nothing else you can at least email them to the people you know

Conclusion:

Who doesn’t like a talking Hedgehog?  This is a pretty fun app because you will be able to manipulate the hedgehog depending on what you give to him.  He’s naturally pretty bored and uninviting until you give him an energy drink and then he transforms into something completely different!  You can record the funny videos once you capture them and then share them with friends and family.

Archetype iPhone app Review

Description:

The Archetype iPhone app is one of the best first person shooters out on the iPhone.  Go ahead and download it and give it a try.

Features:

• This game has been completely optimized so that it works on the iPhone 4.  You can maximize your experience by using the retina display to view better textures, high resolution images, and crisp on-screen HUD.  Every time that you get a head shot you will be amazed by how good the game looks
• One of the funnest parts of this game is the ability you have to play in multi-player death matches.  These little games can support up to 5 on 5 in two different teams
• You can also play some pretty intense team battles that will take place across over six different maps.  You also will be able to utilize six different weapons that include the likes of the missile launcher, melee axe, shotgun, precision and battle rifles, and the auto mag.  There are also a couple different grenade types
• One of the new things int he game is the support center for the entire game.  You will be able to also take part in the multiplayer matching process.  You will be able to access leaderboards as well as the achievements
• There is also a brand new arena that you can take advantage of that has everything to do with shotguns.  This is a fun single-weapon mode where you can go crazy
• There is another new story mode which can be unlocked by beating the online campaign mode.  You will be able to see the story behind Archetype through the messages and logs
• Another new part of the game is the chapter two frontier.  You will be able to do some in-app purchases to double the levels, add new gameplay modes, and also get another story mode
• The controls in the game are very precise and you will be able to enjoy the joystick feel of them.  You can get the hang of these controls in no time
• You also will be able to earn experience for winning your games and then you can start to rank up and even win some pretty cool medals
• You can use the radar that is on the screen to be able to track your enemies and see where they are going.

Conclusion:

This app has been given an overall rating of 3 1/2 stars out of 5 stars by people that have played it and reviewed it.  The game currently costs around $0.99 to download onto your iPhone.

Geometry Wars iPhone app Review

Description:

The Geometry Wars iPhone app is one of the coolest little arcade games you are going to find on the iPhone.  You will see that it has used the graphics engine and has faster processing so that you can have an enhanced game experience and really let yourself get deeper and deeper into the fast-paced game.  If you have the iPad then you will definitely want this game for that as well.  You will see all the different gameplay modes and also will be able to use the exclusive iPad gameplay mode that is pretty intense. You will love how versatile the game is and also all of the different enemies and attacking strategies that you can employ.  Enjoy this one of a kind game!

Features:

• If you love arcade games then there is a good chance that you will fall in love with this game as well.  It has been widely known as one of the most successful games in the arcade genre of all time
• If you go back in history a bit you will see what I mean.  The Geometry Wars Retro Evolved game ended up winning multiple awards for the best overall game of the year and the best arcade game
• This game is also known as one of the very first games that really helped kick start the craze of consumers getting their own digital distribution of these home consoles
• There was a a sequel to that first game called Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 and it also had a great year in its own right because it broke a lot of records
• When the critics went to rate the second game in the series they gave it a 90% combined rating with is actually the very highest live rating for an arcade ever before recorded
• The main feature of this game is that it has a lot of different play sessions that are all really short.  These play sessions usually last anywhere between five and 10 minutes which is awesome because you can play it anytime and anywhere without a huge time commitment
• This is one of the most critically acclaimed franchises and the fan base for this game and it’s predecessor are fiercely loyal to it

Conclusion:

How you can you argue with one of the best arcade game franchises of all time? That’s right, you can’t.  The Geometry Wars iPhone app is a great way to spend 5 or ten minutes you have when you are sitting around wishing you had something to do.

Star Wars: Cantina iPhone app Review

Description:

Do you love the Star Wars universe? Then come on in to the Cantina and have a drink!

Features:

• This game allows you to do a lot of things but the main purpose of it is to let you own your own Cantina in the Star Wars universe
• As you take on the challenge of running a successful business you will have to do all that you can to keep your customers happy.  You will need to be quick on taking orders, deliver all of the drinks on time, and just check up on your customers so that you can get big tips
• One of the fun things about the game is that you will get to see a funny side of the Star Wars universe you haven’t seen before
• As you make a lot of money in tips you will be able to start adding some legit upgrades to your little eatery so that your customers enjoy it even more than they already do
• The career mode is especially fun because you will have to follow the storyline and pass all of the harder levels in order to get through the game
• There is also an endless mode where you have to see how long you can keep up with all of the different customers that come into the store

Conclusion:

The Star Wars universe is so vast that there are an endless amount of games that can be created for it.  Because of this, you are likely to see more games like Star Wars: Cantina pop up.  This game takes somewhat of a humorous spin on the franchise and puts you in charge of your own cantina.  You will have to do all that you can in order to take orders from customers, sell them galactic drinks, and also just please them to a point where they leave some huge tips.  As you make more money you will be able to upgrade your cantina and these little things will be what really helps your customers feel comfortable and enjoy themselves.  There is a career mode that you can access that allows you to go through increasingly harder levels so that you can see how much money you can earn and how upgraded you can get your cantina.  You will see a lot of familiar star wars characters and you will love the cartoonish visual style that goes along with the game.

This app has been given a rating of 3 1/2 out of 5 stars by iPhone app users and is a must have for anyone that is obsessed with the Star Wars universe.  The only main downside to this app is that it costs $2.99 to be able to download it onto your iPhone so it is a bit more expensive than most apps.

WTF with Marc Maron iPhone app Review

Description:

If you love watching Marc Maron, then all you need to do is just download the WTF with Marc Maron iPhone app so that you can get access to all of the latest episodes right from your phone!  One of the cool things this app allows you to do is to download the episodes so that you can watch them offline wherever you may be at the time.  There are a ton of features including the favorites, resume playback, and much more!

Features:

• This app is loaded with extra features.  One of the coolest features on the app is that you will be able to take your smart phone and get streaming access to any one of the episodes so that you can play it literally anywhere
• The app is frequently updated so you won’t have to worry about missing an episode because all of the latest ones will always be on there
• The app is easy to use, you simply download the episodes and then even when you are offline you will be able to view them anywhere you are
• You also have the option of using the playback resume feature which works especially well if you get interrupted by a call or there is some other distraction that you come across

If you are a big fan of WTF with Marc Maron then this app is a must have.  It keeps you up to date on the latest episodes and information so that you will never miss a thing.

Who Threw Poo iPhone app Review

Description:

You’ve been bullied for long enough.  The only way to really get back at the neighborhood bully and embarrass him is to take your dog’s poop and throw it at him and hit him right in the face.  Do what you can to send your neighbors packing with a good poo fling!

Features:

• One of the funnest things about this simple little app is that you will have the opportunity to throw all kinds of different items at the bullies next door.  You will be able to throw dozens of items including bricks, footballs, poop, ornaments from the yard, tires, and pretty much anything else you can find laying around in the back yard
• Even the poo that is in the game has been customized quite a bit.  You will be able to throw little pieces of poo, huge pieces of poop, stinky poops, or even little bird poo that you find.  Once you come across some poo you can’t help but chuck it!
• There are also as few different characters that you can choose to be in the game.  There are actually five characters total and each of them have their own personality and will give you an entirely unique experience
• Last of all, you will be able to start your adventure in the trailer park and then you can work up through that dingy trailer all the way until you have an actual home in the nice suburbs of the city

Conclusion:

In light of all of the weird and unconventional apps out there comes the “Who Threw Poo” iPhone app.  In this app you will have the opportunity to get back at that jerk of a bully that lives next door.  Not only will you have tons of poo to fling, you will also be able to throw a variety of other items including footballs, bricks, and anything else you can find.  You will also be able to pick from a few different characters as well as work your way up from the little trailer in your trailer park to a real house in the suburbs!  If you’ve ever wanted to throw poo on somebody without having a mess on your hands, then this is the only way to do it!

Amy’s Froyo iPhone app Review

Description:

Amy’s Froyo iPhone app is a fun way to make some interesting creations out of a variety of different toppings and flavors.

Features:

• There is a ton going on in this little iPhone app.  For one, there are a ton of different cup designs to choose from (30 to be exact) and you will be able to get things like Manhattan, Saturn, Poppy, Comino, Malibu and more
• The app also allows you to make fro yo creations from a bunch of different flavors. There are over 15 different flavors that you can choose from including vanilla, green tea, coconut, coffee, mango, blueberry, melon and many others
• As far as customization goes there are also a lot of different toppings that you can put on your frozen yogurt.  You can put over 41 different delicious toppers onto your ice cream to make it the perfect combination of sweetness
• Once you have made your little frozen dessert you can then eat it up!
• You will also have the option of saving your froyo onto your phone in you photo album to pull it up at any time
• You can also share your designs and creations with your friends and family by posting them on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, or you can email them
• You can also take your recipe and save it so that you can make the same froyo again

Conclusion:

Who doesn’t like a little frozen yogurt?  This app can be a real time waster because there is so much that you can do with it.  There are over 30 different cup designs that are all unique and have options such as soho, Wowa, York, Aruba, Madison, Jodhpur and many more.  On top of that they also have 15 flavors and even 41 toppings that you can use in order to decorate your Froyo and make it as scrumptious as you want.  There are quite a few of these types of apps out there on the market and while they don’t have a lot of lasting value they can be a fun way to spend a few minutes here and there to make some pretty fun flavorful creations.  You can also share these creations with other people that you love which can give this game some replay value.

ToonCamera iPhone app Review

Description:

In the ToonCamera iPhone app you will be able to take all sorts of different pictures and then turn them into a real live cartoon.  Once you have molded and changed up your pictures you can then save them in a photo album or share them with everyone you know over social networking sites or over email.  There are a variety of different art and cartoon effects for you to choose from.

• This app allows you to create a variety of different effects with all of your pictures.  You will notice that there are 9 different art and cartoon affects that you can access on your camera
• In this app you will be able to do all kinds of things with your photos.  Try different combinations of sketching, stipple, and cartoon styles on all of your pictures til you find the right look
• You can also create a variety of different lines on your pictures.  Choose between the solid lines, the thin lines, and also the really thick lines
• You can take pictures in either the landscape mode or you can do it in the normal portrait mode.  It’s up to you and what parts of the picture that you want to capture
• Once you have taken your pictures and edited them you can then save them into a photo album or you can share them with your friends and family through either facebook and twitter or through email
• If you own an iPod 4 or an iPod Touch 4 then you can rotate between the front and back cameras to get your desire effect with the pictures
• The last feature that you can toggle on and off is the LED flash that is located on the iPhone 4 to make sure that you get everything lit up properly

Conclusion:

One of the fun parts about this app is the ability that it gives you to turn normal pictures into cool art effects on your camera.  The most exciting effect (hence the reason that the app is named after it) is that of the ability to turn things into cartoons.  You will be able to mesh a variety of styles and options to create fun little pieces of art with all of your pictures.  Also, it’s nice to have the front and back facing cameras with the iPhone 4.

Suzie’s Sushi House iPhone app Review

Description:

Suzie was just walking down the road one day and came across a sushi place.  She instantly fell in love and decided that was going to be her new passion.  She began to work towards owning a big sushi house of her own.  Fast forward a decade into the future and Suzie has here own little sushi house.  It’s a small one but it seems to be doing ok. In the Suzie’s Sushi House iPhone app as you help her live her dreams and become more popular, she might eventually take her sushi franchise all over the country.  This is entirely up to you….

• In this fun little organizational app you will be able to take Suzie’s Sushi House and use 19 different amazing recipes as you try to please the customers that come in the door
• The game also includes a total of 31 different levels so you will have your work cut out for you as you try to make it big in the restaurant business
• As you are working on creating great sushi, you will be able to use up to 12 different ingredients and each will be making a very unique and exciting form of sushi
• Another thing you can look forward to in the game is the ability to get the 9 different achievements.  They are very challenging so you will have to do your best to complete them
• The other nice thing about the app is that there are some really great sound tracks that accompany each of the levels.  There are a total of 9 original soundtracks that are all in high quality
• There is a cool rating system using stars that you can use in order to help boost your overall scores
• There is also a leader board that you can check out in order to compare your high scores with any friends and family that might be playing the game
• There are a couple different difficulty levels that you can choose from including the easy and hard modes
• The controls in this game are very  intuitive and there is also a tutorial that you can watch in order to get some extra insight
